This is the third Lion Roar product in this line that I have had the pleasure to review. This item, labeled the, "Cross Recessed Screw" is of the same exceptional quality as the other "screw" sets.

There are about 380 individual "cross recessed screws" on this item. One does not get the entire screw; the product is a 3 dimensional representation of the head of the screw. For those among us who are familiar with dry wall screws, these are very tiny representations of the head of that kind of screw. Some folks identify these screws as having a "Phillips Head" arrangement and some use the term "cross head". Think of an "X" and that is where the business end of a screwdriver is inserted.

To provide a reference illustrating the size of the screw heads provided on this sheet dig into your stash of drill bits and find the # 64 bit. Drill a hole into a thin sheet of plastic, remove one of the Lion Roar Cross Recessed Screw heads and one can drop through the hole formed by the #64 bit.

The item, as seen in the picture accompanying this review is a thin sheet of metal with the screw heads separated from the parent plate. The screw heads are held in place by two pieces of plastic film, one of which can be peeled back allowing the modeler to remove the screw head and place it on the modeling project. These items can be handled with dampened fingers and a sharp X-Acto. None of the tweezers in my tool box can pick up and hold such small parts.

Use of these screw heads is limited only by the imagination of the modeler. I have a use for them on 1/32 scale instrument panels in aircraft. The screws lend themselves to detailing landing gear struts, aircraft engines, auto engines, and of course, adding detail on armor models.

You can visit the Lion Roar website at www.lionroar.net. Be aware that there is an English language version of the website available as well as Japanese, and the English translation is actually easily understandable and lacking in the usual "lost in translation" errors that tend to creep into such websites or publications. Once on the site you can find this particular item and many others in this same line by clicking on the "Lion Roar – Ideas for Perfection" button, and then the "Tools" button.

I highly recommend this Lion Roar product. My thanks to Dragon Models USA for the review sample.
